Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic has arisen to be one of the major viral infection that world has ever seen and it is a game changer for many countries in terms of falling social and economy status. Greater position in the society comes with greater responsibility. Around the globe, group of scientists from various disciplines of medicine in many countries rigorously working on the solution for the COVID-19. Whole world would be grateful for anyone comes with the perfect cure for COVID-19

Editorial

It is a great honour for me to write Editorial note for the upcoming Volume 18 and issue 3 of International Journal of Chemical Science, one of the reputed peer reviewed journal in the field of chemical sciences since 2003. The journal which cover almost core areas including physical, inorganic and organic as well as ancillary areas such as pharmaceutical, optical materials, catalysis, environmental sections etc. It take immense pleasure to thank all the authors who are contributing their valuable findings to the current issue of the IJCS.,

Whole world would be grateful for anyone comes with the perfect cure for COVID-19.

‘Prevention is better than cure’ as stated by the famous proverb, we should keep ourselves protect against the virus by taking proper preventive medicines. Apart from the hygiene, Traditional medicines of India, China and medicines from tribal communities of many countries would serve as a viable preventive measures. Our mother nature has gifted us with plenty of treasures including the medicinal plants. Nature has solution for all the problems and none of them have been created without a solution. Our greediness lead to the overconsumption of natural resources. The current scenario instigate us to step back and revisit the history of traditional medicines.

Here are some of the Interesting articles which explore the real time experiences in chemistry. Let them be known in detail.

I wish to bring to your kind attention, ‘Kabacura Kudineer’ (meaning herbal decoction for treating severe phlegm, dry and wet cough and fever) an Indian Siddha medicine prescribed for COVID-19 as a preventive medicine. It is a herbal decoction of equal amounts of ingredients of dry ginger (Zingiber officinale), pippali (Piper longum), clove (Syzygium aromaticum), cirukancori root (Tragia involucrate), mulli root (Hygrophila auriculata), kadukkai (Terminalia chebula), atatotai leaf (Justicia adhatoda), kapuravalli leaf (Plectranthus amboinicus), nilavembu camulam (Andrographis paniculate) and few other herbs.

As a chemist, I wondered about these ingredients and done a curious search of any phytochemicals reported from these plants. Interestingly, there are plethora of phytochemicals with broad spectrum of biological activities as evident through plenty of publications. Our Journal frequently published research articles related to natural products and their biological activities [1,2]. Nature is a wonderful treasure of several commodities, needed for the welfare of human and other living beings on earth. Hence, it is our greater responsibility to use them wisely and conserve them for the future generations.

On behalf of the International Journal of Chemical Sciences Editorial Board members and publisher, on my own behalf, we take this opportunity in inviting the research findings on novel natural products and their biological activities.
