Starting material 3-oxo-N-Pyridin-2-yl butyramide have been synthesized by the reaction of 2-amino Pyridine and ethylacetoacetate. This is undergoes cyclization with thiourea & different aromatic aldehyde to yield desired pyrimidines (3a-i). The compounds are expected to have antiviral activity.
