Abstract
Synthesis, characterization, antimicrobial and insecticidal activity of some newruthenium(III) complexeswith Schiff bases of amino acids
Author(s): S.Varshney, Monika Gupta, K.B.Bansal, A.K.VarshneyHexa-coordinated ruthenium(III) complexes of the type [RuCl2(L)2]where L = anion of the Schiff base, have been prepared by reacting RuCl3.3H2O with monofunctional bidentate Schiff bases in 1:2 molar ratio using benzene as reactionmedium. Schiff bases are synthesized by condensing 2-acetylflourene or 4-acetylbiphenyl with amino acids (glycine, alanine, valine, leucine, isoleucine and tryptophan) inmethanol. All of the newcomplexes have been characterized by elemental analysis and I.R. spectral data. An octahedral structure has been proposed for the newly synthesized complexes. These complexes are evaluated for their antibacterial, antifungal and insecticidal activities and their results are encouraging.
