Abstract
Synthesis, characterization and biological activities of Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of Schiff base ligand derived from p-dimethylaminocinnamaldehyde.
Author(s): Gajanan Pandey, Harendra K.SharmaSome newmetal (Ni(II) and Cu(II)) complexes of Schiff base derived frompdimethylaminocinnamaldehyde and S-alkyl dithiocarbazatewere synthesized and characterized by various physico-chemical (conductancemeasurements, elemental analyses, solubility, magnetic susceptibility) and spectral (infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance and ultra violet-visible spectroscopy) techniques. The newly synthesizedmetal complexeswere evaluated for their antibacterial and antifungal activity against Staphylococcus Aureus, Staphylococcus Albus, Escherichia Coli, and Aspergillus Niger, Alternaria Alternate strains respectively. The metal complexes exhibited moderate to significant biological activities against the same. Based on the analytical data and spectral analysis, the structure of the complexes has also been proposed.
