Abstract
Synthesis, characterisation, thermal decomposition and antifungal studies of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of N,NÃ?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?- bis[1,3-benzodioxol-5-ylmethylene]propane-1,3-diamine
Author(s): Prasad M.Alex, K.K.AravindakshanCo(II),Ni(II) and Cu(II) Complexes of a bidentate chelating / bridging Schiff base ligand, namelyN,NÂ’-bis[1,3-benzodioxol-5-ylmethylene]propane-1,3- diamine were synthesised using acetates, chlorides, bromides, nitrates and perchlorates of the metals. The complexes were characterised by elemental analysis, UV-Vis and IR spectra, conductance and magnetic susceptibility measurements and thermogravimetric analysis. The ligand showed bridging nature in some of its complexes, as evidenced by magnetic- and microanalytical data. The thermograms of three complexes were analysed and the kinetic parameters for the different stages of decompositions were determined. The antifungal activities of the ligand and three complexes against Phytophthora capsici were tested in carrot agar medium.
