A 4-acetamido-2-ethoxy benzoylhydrazine 2 obtained by reacting hydrazine hydrate with methyl 4-acetamido-2-ethoxy phenyl benzoate. Further, compound 2 was condensed with 4-aryliden-2-phenyl-5-oxozolinones 3 in the presence of dry pyridine to afforded new5-imidazolinone derivatives in good yield (75-80%). The structures of newly synthesized compounds were confirmed by IR, 1H NMR,Mass spectral studies and elemental analysis. All the synthesized compounds have been screened for antimicrobial activity.
