Abstract
Synthesis and Comparative Antimycobacterial Evaluation of Certain Substituted Benzimidazoles
Author(s): K. Umaa, K. Kannan and K. KrishnakumarA series of 2-methyl-1H-benzimidazole hydrazide derivatives have been synthesized, purified and the structures of these heterocycles have been characterized on the basis of spectral analysis (IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and Mass). Test compounds were tested for antimycobacterial potentials using alamar blue assay method (ABA) and luciferase reporter phage assay (LRPA) against the pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Some of the compounds are found to possess remarkable antimycobacterial potentials proving their equipotency with that of the standard marketed chemotherapeutic agent, isoniazid.
