Abstract
Spectrophotometric determination of chromium (III) with isatin in the presence of surfactant
Author(s): R.W.AliAspectrophotometric determination of chromium(III) carried outwith isatin as a complexing agent in the presence of hexadecyltrimethylammoniumbromide (HTAB) as a surfactant for increasing the sensitivity of the system. The complex between chromium(III) and isatin formed at pH3.0.BeerÂ’s Law was obeyed for chromium(III) over the range 0.45 - 8.50 ïÂÂg L-1 with molar absorptivity 1.69ï‚´104mol-1 L-1 cm-1 and SandellÂ’s sensitivitywas 4.7ï‚´10-3 ïÂÂg cm-2. The proposed method has been successfully applied to the determination of chromium(III) in igneous rock fromSnamhill in Iraq, and no other method investigated chromium (III) in same rock in order to compare with proposed method.
