Abstract
Sorption of copper (II) and cobalt (II) ions by using chitin as adsorbent
Author(s): M.Viswanadham, M.Adharvana Chari, N.SriramuluThe present work deals with the adsorption of Cu(II) and Co(II) metal ions on natural bio polymer chitin. Experiments conducted to obtain optimum conditions like effect of pH, intial concentration, particle size. Langmuir isotherm was used to evaluate sorption capacity of chitin. Adsorption process follows first order kinetics. Fixed bed down flow Column studies were also conducted for the removal of Cu(II) and Co(II). The bed depth service times of adsorbent column were also determined at different bed depths. Biopolymer chitinwas proved as very good adsorbent formaximumremoval ofmetal ions.
