Abstract
Removal Of Lead Ions In The Presence Of Surfactants
Author(s): Howaida M.El-Kashlan, Dalia M.S.A.SalemThe present work is concerned with the removal of Pb++ from waste water by cementation on rotating zinc cylinder. The rate of Pb++ removal was studied under different conditions of rotation speed, initial Pb++ concentration and different types of surfactants as cationic (cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide CTAB), anionic (Sodium dodecyl sulphate SDS) and non ionic (Triton-x-100). It was found that the rate of Pb++ removal increases with increasing the rotation speed and initial Pb++ concentration; the presence of surfactants were also found to increase the rate of cementation. The increase in the rate of cementation depends on type of surfactant and its concentration.
