Abstract
Preparation and characterization of new chitosan 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde Schiff-base complexes; catalyticn epoxidation of 1-hexene in presence of H2O2
Author(s): Sahar I.Mostafa, Neveen A.Anan, Shawky M.Hassan, Eman M.SaadThe chitosan 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde Schiff-base (H2cs-ba)was prepared by the condensation of 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde and chitosan (cs) in ethanol. The Schiff-base complexes of Fe(III), Co(II),Ni(II), Ru(III), Rh(III) and Pd(II) were reported. Theywere characterized by spectroscopic (IR, 13C NMR, UV-VIS, SEM and XRD), elemental analysis, magnetic and thermal measurements. The Schiff-base (H2cs-ba) behaves asmononegative bidentate and coordinates themetal ions via the azomethine nitrogen and deprotonated 2-hydroxy groups. The catalytic oxidation of 1-hexene to epoxyhexane by some of the reported complexes was also reported.
