Phenylboronic acid was found to be an efficient catalyst for direct reductive amination of aldehydes using Hantzsch dihydropyridine ester as biomemitic hydrogen source under mild conditions. The green and economical process requires only catalytic amount of phenylboronic acid and provides rapid access to the structurally diverse amines in high yields.
