Abstract
One-pot conversions of carboxylic acids into nitriles without solvent under microwave irradiation.
Author(s): Yu-Qing Cao, Yuan-Yuan Jin, Chun-Ming Duan, Zhan ZhangIn an environmentally benign solvent-free system, carboxylic acids were rapidly transformed into corresponding nitriles by amidation with ethyl carbamate via one-pot reactions in excellent yields under microwave irradiation. The most suitable condition was 18 minutes under the microwave power of 231 watt with the amount of zinc chloride of 0.5 equiv.
