Abstract
New Biologically Active Transition Metal Complexes Of 2-Mercapto-4,6-Diamino-5-Hydroxypyrimidine
Author(s): Sahar I.Mostafa, Nick HadjiliadisThe reaction of 2-mercapto-4,6-diamino-5-hydroxypyrimidine(HMDAHP) with Fe(III), Ni(II), Ag(I),[RuII(PPh3)3Cl2] and[AgI(phen)(H2O)(NO3)] is described. IR, 1H NMR and mass spectra, conductivity, magnetic and thermal measurements of the complexes reported and their structures discussed. In all complexes, HMDAHP behaves as a bidentate forming four-membered cyclic nitrogen-sulfur chelate without any participation of the pendant amino or hydroxy groups in complexation. The biological activity of Ag(I) complexes against bacteria(S.aureus and P.aeruginosa) and fungi(A.niger and C. albicans) was also discussed.
