Abstract
Mixed Ligand Complexes In Solution: Metal Ions-Salicylhydroxamic Acid-Benzohydroxamic Acid Systems
Author(s): Mohamed TahaThe binary and mixed ligand complexes of some metal ions (M+n=Cu+2, Co+2, Ni+2, Fe+3 and Al+3) with salicylhydroxamic acid (Sham) as a primary ligand and benzohydroxamic acid (Bha) as secondary ligand, were studied using potentiometric technique. The acidity constants of the ligands were determined and used for determining the stability constants of the complexes formed in aqueous solutions under the experimental conditions (t=25°C, I=0.1 mol dm-3 NaNO3). The ternary complexes are formed in a stepwise mechanism. The stability complexes of ternary complexes were discussed in relative to that of the binary complexes of secondary ligands. Confirmation of the ternary complexes of the type Cu(II)-Sham-Bha in solution has been carried out using differential pulse polarography (DPP), square wave voltammetry, and coductometric measurements.
