Abstract
Microstructure, Raman spectra and superconducting properties of Ce(III)-2212-BPSCCO composite
Author(s): M.Jansen,Morsy M.A.Sekkina, Hosny A.El-Dally, Khaled M.ElsabawyThe pure BPSCCO(Bi0.5Pb0.5)2 Sr2Ca1Cu2O8 and its variant ceriumcontaining compositeswith general formula :Bi1+yCeyPbSr2Ca1Cu2Oz,where y=0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 mole respectively were prepared by the conventional solid state reaction route(SSR). Ce2O3 has a limited effect on the main crystalline superconductive 2212-phase as(y) amount added increases. Only leadrich- plumbates and strontium cerates appear as secondary phases in minor. SE-microscopy accompaniedwith EDXproved that,The average grain size was found in between 0.42 and 1.65ïÂÂm and SrCe4O7 impurity phase was distributed in a small aggregations in between grains confirming that cerium is out of the main crystalline phase 2212 by high ratios. Ce2O3 exhibits strong interactions on Raman spectral modes of the domainating 2212-phase. A non-magnetic Ce2O3 has a slight effect on TcÂ’s of domainating 2212-phase.
