Abstract
Gas sensitivity of cobalt-,molybdenum- and palladium-modified nanostructured SnO2 films
Author(s): S.M.Malyovanyi, O.I.Milovanova, E.V.PanovCo3O4-, MoO3- and Pd-doped nanocrystalline SnO2 powders have been synthesized in a nitrate melt. The phase composition, microstructure, morphology, fineness and distribution of dopant have been studied by XRD, TEM, SEM, EDX. The sensitivity S of films of these powders to a number of alcohols (methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol, isoamyl alcohol) and dimethylketone has been studied by electrical conductivity measurement. The effect of doping (increase in S) is due to the formation of the nanocomposite SnO2/dopant, in which the dopant either facilitates oxygen activation (Pd) or is an incomplete-oxidation (MoO3,Co3O4) catalyst.
