Author(s): H.N.Shivaprasad, M.Suresh Gupta, M.D.Kharya, A.C.Rana, S.MohanThe ethanol extract of the roots of Cassia auriculata has been investigated for their ability to scavenge 1,1, diphenyl picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) and lipid peroxidation in rat liver homogenate. The extract has been found to possess antioxidant activity in both the models tested as evident by IC50 values being 79.45 and 709.22μg/ml for scavenging of DPPH and lipid peroxidation respectively.
