Abstract

Extraction separation studies of divalent manganese using N-n-octylaniline as a liquid anion exchanger

Author(s): Sachin R.Phule, Yogesh S.Shelar, Shashikant R.Kuchekar

A trace concentration of manganese (II) was quantitavely extracted at pH 10.5 in 0.01Msodiummalonate with 0.022MN-n-octylaniline. Itwas eluted with 0.2N nitric acid and determined by spectrophotometrically. The various parameters influencing extraction viz. pH, sodiummalonate concentration, N-n-octylaniline concentration, various eluents, elution time and effects of interfering ions were studied to determine the optimum conditions for separation of manganese. The method was extended for an analysis of manganese (II) in synthetic mixtures corresponding to alloys.
