Abstract
Electrochemical study of the stability constants and thermodynamic parameters of bivalentmetal ionswith aspirin
Author(s): Harminder Kaur, Anita SinglaThe interaction of bivalent metal ions: Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Sn2+, Hg2+and Pb2+with aspirin in mixed aqueous solution (50% v/v water-ethanolmedium) was studied by pH-potentiometry keeping fixed ionic strength at 0.1mol/l (KNO3) andT = 298K, 308Kand 318K. Themetal–ligand stability constants of complexeswere evaluated usingmodified Irving-Rossotti technique. The corresponding thermodynamic parameters (free energy, enthalpy and entropy) have also been evaluated to confirmthe feasibility of complex formation.
