Abstract
Cytotoxic and antitubercular activity of new lupane-type triterpenoids fromthe nut of Anacardiumoccidentale
Author(s): Yasser SelimTwo newlupane triterpenoids (2, 3)were isolated fromthe bioactivemethanol extract of the fruit (nut) of Anacardium occidentale, along with three known compounds. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated based on spectroscopic data analysis. All new triterpenoids were evaluated for their in vitro antitubercular activity toward M. tuberculosisATCC 27294. The isolated compounds 2 & 3 were tested in vitro for cytotoxic potential against MCF-7 cells (human breast cancer), BGC-823 cells (human gastric carcinoma) andA-549 cells (lung cancer). Compounds 3 exhibited significant cytotoxic activities against all tested tumor cell lines.
