It is a large, isolated carbonate bank, one of the biggest buildups in an archipelago that characterized the Pre-Caspian Basin from the Devonian to the Carboniferous and that now hosts large hydrocarbon reserves. Three new wells were drilled in East Kashagan (KE-4, KE-6, KE-ÃÂ-01), another three are being drilled (KE-ÃÂ-02, KE-ÃÂ- 03, KE-5-01) and reservoir properties1.
