Author(s): Sajal Srivastava and S. Barnali Das

3-Amino-2-mercapto-7-methyl-5, 6, 7, 8-tetrahydropyrido (b) thieno [2, 3-d]pyrimidin-4 (3 H) - ones were prepared by multi component condensation between sulphur, ketone and ethylcyanoacetate adopting Gewald reaction1 and then treatment with carbondi sulphide, DMS and NaOH followed by cyclization with hydrazine hydrate. It was condensed with substituted aryl aldehydes to yield Schiff base. Then, these Schiff bases were tested for anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activity.
