Author(s): Genevieve Suseno Subur, Srinivasa Rao JadaAndrographis paniculata (Burm.F.) Nees, a plant indigenous to South Asian countries like India and China, has been used for the effectively treatment of various diseases. Due to the widespread use of this herb, a number of chemicals have been identified as secondary metabolites. Research reports of diterpenoids with biological activity have been published. These diterpenoids have demonstrated hepatoprotective, immunostimulant, cholerectic, cell differentiation-inducing, anticancer and antiviral properties. Diterpenoids comprises of approximately 11% of methanol extract of A. paniculata. We have systematically reviewed the chemical constituents isolated from A. paniculata and their pharmacological properties.
